Add a Family Member

Give a family member read-only portal access — scoped to their loved one only.

Families want to know how their loved one is doing; you want to stop fielding the same phone calls. A Family Member account gives them a read-only portal — and it is linked to a specific resident, so they see their own family member and nothing about anyone else in the home.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Open Manage Users

From the dashboard, click “Manage Users” to open User Management.

  2. 2

    Click “Add User”

The “Add New User” form opens.

  3. 3

Enter their email and a temporary password

The email is their sign-in. Set a temporary password of at least eight characters — they can change it after their first sign-in.

  4. 4

    Add their name and phone

So you know who the account belongs to when they call.

  5. 5

Choose the role — Family Member

Choosing Family Member reveals a “Linked Residents” section — this is the step that scopes their access.

  6. 6

    Link them to their resident

Pick the resident, set the relationship (child, spouse, parent, sibling, or other), and click “Add.” You can link more than one resident if a family member has two loved ones in the home.

  7. 7

    Create the user

Click “Create User.” They appear with a Family Member badge, and the Family Members counter goes up.

Why it matters

  • Family access is read-only and scoped strictly to linked residents — no other resident in the home is visible, which is a privacy requirement, not a preference.
  • Giving families a portal cuts down the repeated phone calls and text updates that eat into care time.
  • The relationship you record makes it clear who is asking and on whose behalf.
