Clock Out & Attest Your Breaks

End your shift, answer the WA meal & rest break check, and leave a handoff note.

Clocking out does two things at once: it closes your time record and captures a Washington meal-and-rest-break attestation (WAC 296-126-092). After a shift of five hours or more, VentoFlo asks whether you got your breaks. It’s your own after-the-fact statement — never pre-filled, always optional, and it never changes your recorded hours or blocks you from clocking out. Caregivers don’t need permission to take a break; this is simply the record of what happened.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Clock Out

On the Shift Clock, tap the red “Clock Out” to open the clock-out screen.

  2. 2

    Answer the meal-break question

For a shift of 5+ hours you’re asked if you got an uninterrupted 30-minute meal break: “Yes, uninterrupted,” “It was interrupted,” or “I didn’t get one.” Pick the one that matches your shift.

  3. 3

    Answer rest breaks

Note your 10-minute rest breaks (per 4 hours worked): “Took them,” “Some of them,” or “None.”

  4. 4

    It’s optional

Answering never changes your recorded hours — a meal period spent on the premises is paid time — and it never blocks the clock-out. You can leave it blank and answer later from My Hours.

  5. 5

    Add a handoff note

Optionally leave a general note for the next shift and per-resident handoff notes.

  6. 6

    Confirm

Tap “Clock Out.” Your shift closes and your break answers are saved to the record.

Why it matters

  • Washington requires meal and rest periods (WAC 296-126-092); a per-shift attestation creates the record that they were offered and taken — or flags when one was missed.
  • The answer is the caregiver’s own, optional, and never alters pay — so it documents reality instead of pressuring a “yes.” A meal break spent on premises is paid either way.
  • Because it never blocks clock-out, no one is ever stuck on the clock over a break question — a skipped answer can be completed later from My Hours.
