Correct a Missed Dose
A dose was given but never charted — correct the record, non-destructively, with an audit note.
Sometimes a dose is given at the bedside but never charted, and the slot shows Missed. VentoFlo lets an administrator correct that record after the fact — choosing what actually happened, back-dating it to the scheduled slot, and preserving an audit note so the correction is transparent.
Step by step
- 1
Find the missed dose
On the checklist, a dose past its window shows Missed with a “Correct” link.
- 2
Open the correction
Tap “Correct” to open the Correct Missed Entry dialog for that dose.
- 3
Choose what happened
Select the real outcome — here, the dose was Given.
- 4
Back-date it
Mark “given on time (forgot to record)” and the entry is dated to the scheduled slot; for a genuinely late dose, enter the actual time instead.
- 5
Record it
Confirm with “Record as Given.” The MAR now reads Given, with an audit note showing the entry was corrected.
Why it matters
- A late correction is charted as a correction — the audit note preserves that it was added after the fact, instead of silently rewriting history.
- Corrections beyond a set window are limited to administrators, keeping after-the-fact edits accountable.
- It closes documentation gaps the honest way, which is what stands up on survey.
